Online Production Meetings

Our team had our first production meeting online.

Since our scriptwriter was sick yesterday, and we were occupied with the live-event and its preparation throughout the week, it was only today that we finally managed to hold our second production meeting for the client's project online via Facebook chat.

Since the client wanted to combine Lynley's and my ideas, we initially struggled in coming up with a viable solution that combines the most important aspects of both by simultaneously projecting a single, unified message to the intended audience. For we initially had two different ideas: transgender struggle in religious contexts and the transgender psyche. In the beginning of our project, these did not mix well without appearing to be two ideas haphazardly stitched together.

So Craig, Lynley, and I brainstormed ideas and possible solutions, weighing the pros and cons of every idea until we finally found one that was viable. I proposed that we start out with our character Christina playing the piano in a church building until she starts to dream about her alter ego Chris and his endeavours before we cut back to her waking up and to the story resolution that she did not dream about her crush, but rather her transmale self. Since we want to cast two people anyway for the roles of Chris and Christina, I imagined that it would be a nice surprise for the audience.

Lynley, who is in charge of the scriptwriting will now attempt to finish the script best by Monday so that I will be able to draft a storyboard for the scenes and since we nailed down what kind of locations we will definitely use (and those we might use), Craig will compile a list of possible locations by Monday to call them then.

Regarding the casting of actors and extras, we decided to wait until the script is finished, since we first need to get a good idea of how many people we will need in the end and whether our client can provide us with contact details of transmale actors.

All in all and regarding the busy week where many of us were heavily engaged in extra projects and/or sick, we managed to get going pretty well.

I am really looking forward to what Lynley is about to cook up script wise!
